About G-Men of Nashville

Building Generational Change Through Literacy

We are a community-powered nonprofit organization creating measurable early literacy outcomes in Nashville's underserved elementary schools.

Our Origin

Why We Exist

G-Men of Nashville was founded by a community leader who understood firsthand the transformative power of literacy. Growing up in public housing, reading became the pathway to opportunity—a lesson that now drives everything we do.

Research consistently shows that children who cannot read proficiently by third grade are four times more likely to drop out of high school. In underserved communities, this statistic becomes even more urgent.

We intervene at the critical K–3 window, using evidence-based incentive programming to build reading habits, confidence, and measurable academic outcomes.

"I read my way out of the projects. Every child deserves that same chance. That's why we focus on K–3—the years that determine everything."

— Founder, G-Men of Nashville

Our Approach

How We Work

School Partnerships

We partner directly with Metro Nashville Public Schools elementary schools in underserved communities, working alongside principals and teachers to integrate our programming.

Library Activation

Our Read & Ride model activates existing school library systems through structured incentives—medals, pizza parties, and bicycles—that increase reading frequency and library usage.

Community Investment

Through corporate partnerships, individual contributions, and our annual Sneaker Ball, we fund programming that serves over 1,000 students annually.

Measurable Outcomes

We track and report on reading engagement, milestone achievement, and program participation to ensure accountability and continuous improvement.
